Riddick Arise In Darkness by alexanderjohn77 Riddick Arise In Darkness by alexanderjohn77
I hope you all enjoy my Riddick artwork. These have been inspirational movies with so much creativity it has been hard to choose where to go with my finished piece, but here it is. I wanted to be creative with lighting and colour as well as stay to my realistic style. All drawn in Photoshop and please feel free to comment.

Please also look at my other entry

I find it very brave of you to do this on this site as it seems like any constructive criticism is read as an insult. He uses pics as a reference and draws over them which leads to some figures in awkward stances with lighting that just isn't right, especially on riddick. But he did a very good job piecing them together and I don't doubt his artistic skill, but his creative skill.

I am always happy to accept constructive criticism of my work and your comments about the stance feeling awkward is fair. All of the human figures I draw I am the model for,  those used here have been referenced from the pictures I had taken. The lighting to me feels acceptable as additional lights could be coming from any off scene source to aid in the subjects contrast. But with all things that is subjective. In terms of other references, I used the beast from the trailer as a visual reference only and is not a draw over.  Obviously I used multiple Riddick references to get he's outfit and look right, plus the mercs clothes and the drop ship. Why may I ask would you doubt my creativity as with fan art the subjects are already defined.

I would like to address the detractors of this young man.  If you look through his gallery you will find artwork that is very near photo perfect.  If he can do that with traditional tools, why not with digital tools?  Of course it looks like the actor, that was the goal. Of course it is a realistic human pose, again that is the goal.  I know this young man, and he is honest, but more, he is honorable.  I watched this artwork progress through all the layers and stages to produce this piece, and I didn't see any photos used as a base, only as a reference. It really seems to me that you are trying to discredit this piece in order to eliminate one of the top competitors.  What a shame that the art pieces and talent can't stand for itself and you think you have to tear down others.  I'm hoping the judges see through this tactic, and judge all pieces on their merits.

I think it is in poor taste that you are doing this.  I can see the similarity of the 2 images, but there are differences in the images that lead me to believe that these images are hand drawn.  Any well trained eye can see that.  I think that you need to to stop attacking others that truly have talent and start thinking before you open your mouth and assuming that no one is good enough to draw a good visualization of a person who has so many pictures taken of them it would be hard to find a pose they have not been photographed in.  Plus before you post you might want to work on your own short comings of not being able to hit the spellcheck button.

Are these in the exact same position, no they are not. Are the details and the lighting exactly the same, not they are not. The reason they look different is that I drew them in Photoshop while using the trailer as reference, as have many other artists on here. Why do you feel it is necessary to attack my work when you do not know me or what I am capable of as an artist.
